Cocktail hour starts at 5 p.m. followed by full dinner with Surf & Turf (New York steak and Fried Shrimp), with all the trimmings plus a sinfully decadent dessert. Jan. 9: Indoor Scavenger Hunt and Wii Bowling Tournament for kids and adults.

Jan. 16: Hawaiian Days featuring snow surfing (weather permitting), hula-hoop and limbo contest by the fireplace. For dinner, it's potluck – we'll supply the pork, you supply the rest. Bring your favorite recipe to get our very own Idyllwild cookbook started.

Jan. 23: Pirates of the Idyllwild Preserve featuring indoor bounty hunt for hidden treasure, contest for best-dressed pirate, plus a pirate pudding-eating contest. Jan. 30: Nintendo Wii Tournaments from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by Candy Bar Bingo from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Jan. 1-3: Happy New Year – join us New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) for a Potluck Social, then rock in 2010 singing karaoke with family and friends. Join us Friday for a card game extravaganza – learn a variety of popular card games or teach us one of your own. Bring your favorite addition for baked potatoes to our Baked Potato Social followed by Brown Bag Bingo.

Jan. 8-10: New Year's Resolutions: Resolve to learn a new skill at our Friday afternoon craft class and stay for Brown Bag Bingo. Resolve to walk around the lake Saturday after our Ice Cream Social and then resolve to test your skills at Wii Bowling. Most of all, resolve to have a great time at Lake Minden.

Jan.15-17: Baby It's Cold Outside: Come in from the cold on Friday for crafts, karaoke, Chili Potluck Social and Brown Bag Bingo. On Saturday warm up with hot chocolate and board game marathons that will feature a variety of games for all ages. Join us for Candy Bar Bingo, stay for Ice Cream Social and a little baseball – indoor Wii-style of course!

Jan. 22-24: Ten Ways to Beat Cabin Fever:

Jan. 29-31: "It's all in the Cards" featuring Card Game Social, plus we'll make greeting cards, play Brown Bag and Candy Bar Bingo. Share your recipe cards at an "On the Road Again" recipe share. Show off your card castle building skills at a castle building contest, plus don't forget to fill in your mini-golf scorecard and track your miles on your Walk the Trails card.

Feb. 5-7: Super Bowl Blast: Join us Friday night for hoagie sandwiches as we have an early Tailgate Party in the Adult Lodge. Test your Super Bowl knowledge. On Saturday join us for root beer floats at our Ice Cream Social. On Sunday view the Super Bowl on our big screen in the Adult Lodge.

Feb. 12-15: Sweets for My Sweet: Make a sweetheart bracelet at a Friday afternoon bead class. Bring your Sweetie to our Sweetheart Potluck and bring a sweet prize to Brown Bag Bingo. Watch some of the greatest love stories in our Romantic Movie Marathon and don't be shy – sing your special someone a sweet karaoke love song! Feb. 18-21: Bowl-A-Thon: Fill your bowl to the brim at the Friday night Chili Potluck Social. On Saturday show off your bowling skills with the Wii and then we'll fill your bowl at the Ice Cream Social.

Feb. 26-28: Happy Scrappers: Pack up your families and your supplies and come meet with other scrapbooking enthusiasts at a Friday/Saturday scrapbooking Scrap-A-Thon, a perfect setting to meet other scrappers, trade ideas and supplies. Learn how to incorporate Iris folding, Tea Bag folding, and Kaleidoscope folding into your scrapbook. Not into scrapbooking? Then join us for a Monopoly Marathon or a brisk walk around the lake. Friday night we'll "scrap" together a Baked Potato Dinner Potluck Social, followed by Brown Bag Bingo.

24th Annual Southwest Arts Festival at the Empire Polo
This event brings over 250 artists and 15,000 visitors together to enjoy the art, music, food and fun, with a wide selection of crafts, drawings, jewelry, paintings, photographs, printmaking, sculptures and textiles – all for sale for the discriminating art enthusiast. Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival
The National Date Festival and County Fair is a week of fun with live entertainment, including camel and ostrich rides for the kids and a nightly Arabian Nights musical pageant, plus a carnival, great food and plenty of shopping. Rancho Oso

Throughout January and February we offer guided trail rides for ages 8 and over and hand led rides for ages 7 and under. Saturdays we have wagon rides to the barn, plus Friday, Saturday and Sunday we serve a country breakfast in the Stone Lodge. Saturday evenings we offer a western style barbeque.

Jan. 1: Start off your new year with our wonderful breakfast.

Jan. 14: Bring a baked potato to stuff for lunch – lots of good toppings.

35th Annual Cloverdale Old Time Fiddle Festival
The Cloverdale Old Time Fiddle Festival is a lively competition with youth to adult and beginner and advanced levels. Music includes Old Time Style, Texas Style, and Waltz. Jan.16-17: Fishing Tournament Weekend: We'll have an adult tournament at the lake (fishing license required) and a Kidz Only competition at one of our fishing ponds (no license needed). We'll also have a fish look-alike competition plus a "best fish recipe swap" plus other aquatic activities.

Jan. 23-24: Not So Newly Newlywed Weekend: How well do you know your mate? Come and show everyone by participating in our annual Not So Newly Newlywed Game. Plus we'll have a Lake Conroe Bake-Off at the AC. Bring your own baked good and see how it ranks.

Feb. 6-7: Super Bowl Weekend/Birthday Weekend: Come root your favorite team on to victory. We'll set up the big screen in the AC and have snacks and drinks for sale. Feb. 13-14: Sweetheart's Day Weekend: Come to the AC with your sweetheart this weekend and celebrate the sweetest day of the year together, make a Valentine's Day card at our Arts & Crafts session, plus we have a "Sweetness Tea Social" with cookies and other sweets.

Feb. 20-21: Mardi Gras Weekend: We'll have a Mardi Gras golf cart and bicycle parade, plus a Mardi Gras costume party. We'll have face painting and juggling lessons for partygoers, apple-bobbing and other party activities.

Feb. 27-28: Circus of Pets Weekend: Come one, come all and bring your pets! It's all about Kitty and Fido this weekend. We'll have a pet parade, pet look-alike contests, best-dressed pet contest, and other animal-type fun. It promises to be a dog-gone good time!

First Monday Trade Days
Held in downtown Canton, just 30 miles from the preserve, these trade days happen every first Monday weekend of the month. It is one of the largest trade days in the U.S. Everything from pets to trinkets can be purchased and the food is out of this world.

Jan. 9: Island Day: We'll put the pig (our main course for dinner) in the ground at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. During the day we'll have Island games and a costume contest. Join us in the evening for our Hawaiian dinner.

Jan. 16: Class A RV Repair BBQ Dinner and Auction: Ruben and Sue from Class A will again host a free BBQ dinner for all members followed by an auction to benefit Sprits of Christmas in Bandera County. We'll hold an all-day flea market and will allow commercial items.

Jan. 23: Medina's Got Talent: We'll hold our own talent show – come show us what you've got.

Jan. 30: Super Bingo Weekend featuring Brown Bag Bingo, Candy Bar Bingo, and Super Bingo on Saturday. Free cards and great prizes.

U.S. Army All-American Bowl
Considered to be the premier All-American Game across the nation, this is an East vs. West showdown featuring the top 90 high school senior football players from across the country. During half-time, the All-American Marching Band, featuring the top 97 high school senior marching musicians from across the country performs. Held at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, 35 miles from the preserve. Event begins at 11 a.m.

Jan. 1-3: Cheer the New Year: Now that the mad rush is over spend some one on one time with the family, enjoy simple pleasures such as crafts, games and a winter campfire and just relax.

Jan. 8-10: Apres Ski Weekend: Come to the Rec Hall and compare your day on the slopes over a comforting cup of hot cocoa.

Jan. 15-18: Cookie Exchange: Bring a dozen cookies (and a recipe, if homemade) and we'll supply the coffee and tea.

Jan. 22-24: Have You Seen It? Turkeys, deer squirrels, rabbits, and more. Check out the tracks in the snow. Get your identification papers at the Rec Hall and see who can spot the most critters.

Jan. 29-31: Take a Card, Any Card: Come on down to the Rec Hall and let's play some good old-fashioned card games. Kids can play too. Bring your refreshments and enjoy!

Feb. 5-7: Apres Ski Weekend: Spend a relaxing evening over hot cocoa in the Rec Hall and discuss your day on the slopes with fellow skiers.

Feb. 12-15: Chocolate Lover's Weekend: We'll fire up the chocolate fountain for this special weekend. Enjoy our dippables and use your imagination to make some yummy treats.

Feb. 19-21: "Mush": Check out the dog-sledding at Pocono Manor.

Feb. 26-28: Winter Olympics-Scotrun Style: Test your snowy skills with our Pocono winter games and challenges. See if you can beat last year's 8-foot snowman!
